Our review of the previous, 8th version of the camera was published not so long ago. The device is remembered for an unusually effective stabilizer, high resolution and a wide range of non-standard software functions. I wonder what else could be improved in the new model? Let's try to find out, and in some places we will even make a visual comparison.
And immediately - double disappointment. Well understood, of course. The fact is that, while waiting for the package with the camera, the author mentally prepared another batch of dissatisfaction regarding the packaging of the camera and the user's manual. Honestly, who needs these annoying pedestals with a transparent dome now, under which the gadget proudly flaunts? Show product by face? But an advanced user, for whom, in fact, such an expensive device is designed, has not been shopping for a long time and does not feel the goods before buying (hello, new normality). And here you are: no more fragile pedestals with domes for you now. The decorative packaging has been replaced by a practical rigid case.
And the leadership? What have now become the instructions, which once served as the most detailed guidebooks (remember the old days, when the instructions also contained an electronic circuit of the apparatus - in general, tears welling up). So I wanted to scold the developer for the instruction, which lacks any useful information. But what did we see after examining the completeness? There is simply no user manual, which means there is no subject for discussion. There is no need to scold!
The GoPro Hero9 Black camera (SKU CHDHX-901-RW) comes with a modest set of accessories.
Additional accessories are purchased separately or as part of an advanced package. However, thanks to the flip-out mounting lugs, which appeared in the previous eighth version of the camera, now you can use any mounts, the cost of some is one hundred rubles per bundle. On a market day. So, to attach the camera to the tripod platform, we used a penny adapter with a screw tripod hole, and attached the same standard bracket with a rim and "ears" to the bicycle handlebars, which remained from some ancient action camera.
The camera body, in comparison with the 8th version, has "matured" in four dimensions. The dimensions (3D) and weight have increased (here's the fourth D). The frontal black and white retro screen has been replaced by a color micro-display. Go Pro Camera 1080 P 
In the table of specifications, which will be given below, the difference in dimensions and weight is indicated in understandable numbers. Now the device does not look like an undersized pug, but is quite a solid weighty gadget.
The design remains the same: the camera body consists of an aluminum chassis, which is "doused" with textured plastic, which increases friction (in human terms, reduces slip).
The top button is used to start and stop recording or create a photo, it depends on the current mode of the camera. The same button turns on instant recording without first turning on the device (QuickCaprure function). The mounting system here is the same as in the reviewed GoPro Max - two lugs that retract into the groove provided for this.
The lens unit protrudes from the body by 6 mm, and the protective glass is recessed into the frame by 0.3 mm. A microphone array is located under the lens.
The main touchscreen display is shifted slightly to the right. The front-facing micro-display, devoid of touch, is clearly designed for selfies.
Under the cover, which occupies the entire right side of the case, there is a battery compartment, a memory card slot and a USB Type-C connector. When locked, the cover protects the camera from dust and water up to a depth of 10 meters.
The supplied rechargeable battery has a capacity of 1720 mAh, which is one and a half times more than in the previous model.
If the test is carried out in a warm room, it will be impossible to measure the duration of the camera's battery life. Regular overheating interferes, because of which it turns off every now and then. Let us recall that the propensity to critical overheating was also observed in the previous model.
