Toyota RAV4 2019 LE AWD Black
Due to the incredible competition, the compact crossover segment is hot to the limit. With customers constantly demanding these pseudo off-road five-doors, automakers are investing more and more effort in developing and launching new models and generations. This means that compact SUVs are becoming more stylish, boasting better technology, advanced security systems and better finishing materials.
Take the new 2019 Toyota RAV4, for example. Its predecessor was not easy to recommend as Honda and Mazda offered better alternative models. But Toyota has thrown all its energy into the development of the latest RAV4, making the interior much more pleasant and comfortable, adding more active safety systems, which, in addition, are available for this SUV by default.
But if you think the new RAV4 is capable of challenging the Honda CR-V, let alone the Mazda CX-5, on a twisty road, you are greatly mistaken. This Toyota still has an engine under the hood that noises like a squad of drummers at peak loads, a leisurely automatic transmission, and it dri Toyota RAV4 2019 LE AWD Black ves boringly. But, which is probably more critical for the company's customers, the new Toyota SUV is not very eager to surpass its competitors with trunk capacity and bells and whistles.
Prices for the new 2019 RAV4 start at $ 25,500 in the US, making it the most expensive compact crossover to barely beat the Jeep Cherokee ($ 25,490). However, it costs more than the Honda CR-V ($ 24,350), Mazda CX-5 ($ 24,350), Kia Sportage ($ 23,750), Ford Escape ($ 24,105), Nissan Rogue ($ 24,920), Chevrolet Equinox ($ 23 800) and Hyundai Santa Fe ($ 24,250).
The Limited version that got tested in our edition is the most expensive and luxurious version of the 2019 RAV4 and it costs at least $ 33,500. The addition of a new all-wheel drive system with controlled thrust vector increases the cost of the car by another $ 1,400. In addition to this, our crossover has an optional Limited Grade Weather Package for $ 1015 (heated steering wheel, front and rear seats, front seat ventilation and rain sensors), Entune navigation system for $ 580 with JBL acoustics and a set of options Limited Grade Advanced Technology Package for $ 1025 ( keyless entry, hands-free tailgate opening, all-round cameras and induction charging for smartphones). Together with a fairly reasonable $ 200 panoramic sunroof and a $ 269 set of floor mats, the final price of our RAV4 Limited is $ 39,034. That is the most expensive variant of this model.
Short and boxy, the 2019 RAV4 is far from the most attractive car in the segment. But unlike its predecessor, which appears to have been developed by civil servants, the newcomer has personality and charisma. Toyota's rich history of off-road vehicles pushed the designers of this RAV4 to create a courageous and brutal vehicle that looks powerful and purposeful.
In profile, the car also looks stylish and solid thanks to the massive D-shaped rear roof rack and angular wheel arches. The rear lights stick out somehow absurdly, and the whole stern as a whole resembles a Lexus in its design. And even in the top version of the Limited, the bumpers remain unpainted, the rough and seemingly cheap rather large black plastic parts. In general, the exterior of the car seems to scream: "I can, I really can!"
This trend is noticeable in the cabin, but it is implemented more pleasantly. Sitting in a comfortable driver's seat, you see in front of you solid controls and a dashboard under a massive visor. Looking at the high and wide center tunnel with the massive, almost square knob of the gear lever, you feel like you are in a big, brutal SUV. The low front panel in the Limited version is finished in leatherette. The plump "steering wheel" is not large in diameter. In general, in such an interior decoration you feel good and confident.
The new RAV4 also has very pleasant and comfortable seats. The front seats are surprisingly wide and have good lateral support. Of course, they would not be prevented by a slightly larger range of adjustments, but even in this form they are already much better than in the car of the previous generation. And in our test crossover, as a bonus, the front seats are equipped not only with heating, but also with ventilation.
There are also no complaints about placement on the sofa in the second row. There is ample legroom and roomy overhead. Even behind a 1.8 m tall colleague sitting comfortably behind the wheel, there is still enough space. The rear door openings are wide, mak
