Itel Mobile Phones in Uganda

Main page/ Newsletters/ Electromagnetic fields and public health: mobile phones Mobile phones are ubiquitous, with an estimated 6.9 billion registered users worldwide. The electromagnetic fields generated by mobile phones are classified by the International Agency for Research on Cancer as a possible human carcinogen. Research is underway to fully assess the potential long-term effects of mobile phone use. By 2016, WHO will conduct a formal risk assessment of all studied health effects of exposure to radio frequency fields. Nowadays, mobile or cell phones are an integral part of modern telecommunications. In many countries, more than half of the population uses mobile phones, and the trade in them is growing rapidly. There were an estimated 6.9 billion registered users worldwide in 2014. In some parts of the world, mobile phones are the most reliable or the only phones available. Due to the large number of mobile phone users, it is important to investigate, under Itel Mobile Phones in Uganda stand and control their potential impact on human health. Communication over mobile phones is carried out using radio waves propagated through a network of fixed antennas called base stations. Radio frequency waves are electromagnetic fields that, unlike ionizing radiation such as x-rays or gamma rays, cannot break chemical bonds or cause ionization in the human body. Mobile phones are low power RF transmitters operating at frequencies from 450 to 2700 MHz with peak powers ranging from 0.1 to 2 watts. The phone transmits power only when it is turned on. The power (and thus the RF exposure to the user) decreases rapidly as the distance from the phone increases. Therefore, a person using a mobile phone at a distance of 30-40 cm from the body, for example, when sending or reading text messages, using the Internet or a speakerphone, is exposed to much less radio frequency fields than a person holding the phone to the head. In addition to speakerphones or earphones, which keep mobile phones away from the head and body during phone calls, exposure levels can also be reduced by reducing the number and duration of phone calls. The use of telephones in areas of good reception also reduces exposure by allowing transmission at lower power. The use of commercial devices to reduce RF exposure has not been shown to be effective. In hospitals and on airplanes, mobile phones are often banned because RF signals can interfere with some electro-medical devices and navigation systems. Numerous studies have been conducted over the past 20 years to assess whether mobile phones pose a potential health risk. To date, no adverse health effects associated with the use of mobile phones have been identified. The main mechanism of interaction between radio frequency energy and the human body is tissue heating. At the frequencies used by mobile phones, most of the energy is absorbed by the skin and other superficial tissues, which leads to a slight increase in the temperature of the brain or any other organs. https://jiji.ug/mobile-phones/itel
